Erika E. Levi, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health, as well as the Program Director for the Fellowship in Complex Family Planning at Columbia University. She is affiliated with New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Levi’s research interests are in postpartum contraception, breastfeeding and contraceptive counseling.
Dr. Levi completed her undergraduate degree at Barnard College, and her MD/MPH from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her Residency Training in OB/GYN at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and then went on to complete a Fellowship in Family planning at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Levi’s primary focus and research interest is in immediate postpartum initiation of long acting reversible contraceptive methods. As part of this research, she has completed a randomized trial of IUD insertion at time of cesarean delivery. She lead an initiative to make IUDs and Contraceptive Implants more accessible and available to women during the immediate postpartum period in the Labor and Delivery and Postpartum Units at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine
